Wright’s Dojo has a diverse range of equipment, be it classes or functional training, there is definitely something here for you. Personal training can be modified to suit your needs. What is special about our dojo is that we always have a black belt on the floor and ready to assist you where required.

Wright’s Karate and Personal Fitness is located on the south-east side of Ann Arbor. With traditional Okinawan Isshinryu Karate, 1-on-1 personal training, and MMA Conditioning classes there is something for everyone.

Sensei Thomas Wright has been studying Isshinryu Karate for over 40 years. He is an 9th degree black belt, certified personal trainer, and full-time student and teacher of martial arts and personal fitness. Over the years he has trained with countless masters and has played his role in sharing all he knows with hundreds of students. History: Isshin-Ryu (One heart/Mind) was developed by sensei shimabuku, Okinawa’s Grand Master of Shorin-Ryu, who devoted his life to the study of Karate

Kata: Kata are pre-determined defense, attack and counter-attack exercises. Kata develops speed, coordination, technique, and breath control

Basics: Isshin-ryu karate features rapid upper attacks, blocks, strikes, and powerful kicks. all delivered from natural stances for speed, stability, and practical self-defense

Kumite & Sparring: core karate practices where two students engage in controlled combat using learned techniques to develop skill, timing, and real-world application while ensuring safety and respect
